Jose works with various materials: Polished and Tumbled Stone
such as Marble and Travertine, Glazed and Unglazed Ceramic
Tile, Ceramic floor tile and Vitreous Glass tile.
All of Jose's mosaics are entirely handcrafted. Most of the tiles
are cut using traditional methods to produce a unique piece of
work. He is personally involved in the creation of each work from
beginning to end.
He works with home builders, designers, as well as home owners.
He has worked with custom home builders such as Jauregui,
Brian Bailey, and designers David Bravo and Peter Fleury
among others. His most significant opportunity came when Luis
Jauregui commisioned him to design a large mosaic for the 2006
Parade of Homes in Seven Oaks. This house received the award
for Best Interior Design and his mosaic backsplash was featured
in the magazine Austin Home and living.
Jose meet with his clients and discuss with them the theme or
subject of the new project. He produces drawings and sketches
in order to create a model for his mosaics. Some of these designs
appear on the left on this page.
Jose can also do the final installation of the mosaic.
Every mosaic design is different.
Jose meets with his clients at their convenience. There is no
charge for the designing process.
The cost of the mosaic project will depend on the kind of tiles,
size and kind of design (geometric, figurative or landscape).
